Carob instead of chocolate
As a substitute for chocolate, two tablespoons of carob are used instead of 30 grams of chocolate. It can also be used as a binding agent in soups, creams and sauces, in which case half a teaspoon of carob is used per half deciliter of cold liquid or alternatively one deciliter of boiling liquid. Because carob is naturally sweet, less sweetener is required when using it in recipes. Carob can be used in all kinds of baked goods, sweets and then you get a lighter alternative with only two percent fat compared to cacao's approximately 20 percent.
