Munktorps Kvarn is one KRAV-certified craft mill that refines the farm's and surrounding area's ecological and KRAV-certified grain into healthy and tasty flour. In our stone mill, the entire kernel of the grain is ground, including the germ, which gives the flour more flavor and a higher nutritional content. We are passionate about regenerative farming methods, whole grain flour, locally grown cultured grains and being able to sell fresh, flour in our unmanned farm shop. We also deliver to order to our dealers and customers.
Our farm, Munktorps Vallby is an organic and KRAV-certified crop farm with 330 hectares of organic cultivation of wheat, oats, rye, white clover seed, peas, field beans and hay. We practice modern agriculture where we cultivate parts of the area with regenerative methods in order to thereby create a better environment for the micro-life in the soil and at the same time bind more carbon in the soil. When you choose our organic products, you contribute to biological diversity, clean groundwater, living soils and sustainable development.
Why are we doing this?
Well, Johan feels strongly about benefiting soil health and the micro-life in the soil and would like to avoid working the soil as much as is done today in both conventional and organic agriculture. If plowing can be avoided, micro-organisms, fungi and worms benefit and the soil becomes more humus-rich and porous while at the same time binding more carbon in the soil, which is important for our climate.
From each side, we have gained a common interest in stone-ground flour. Johan as a farmer wants to refine the farm's organic grain and Margareta as a nutrition economist is driven by a strong interest in healthy foods and sourdough baking. We want to give more people the opportunity to bake, cook and eat good and healthy food with freshly ground stone ground whole grain flour as a basis.
